The FINISH Mondial Ethiopia team has proudly received the award of the Consortium of Christian Relief and Development Associations (CCRDA), as 2nd place winner. The award grants recognition to NGOs who positively impact their communities through social entrepreneurship, innovative solutions to social issues and best practice examples.
The organisations entering the competition were assessed on the criteria of innovativeness, cost-effectiveness, problem-solving, participatory processes, reliability, and their impact on the communities. The event was attended by the Ethiopian Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, who presented the award to FINISH Mondial Ethiopia.
This is the second time that the Ethiopian team, together with its local partner and implementing organisation, Bole Bible Baptist Church Development Programme (BBBC), participated in the competition. In 2017, the team won first prize for its implementation of a WASH project providing access to water for 139’000 people. This time, it entered the award showcasing the FINISH Mondial initiative. The team presented our work of constructing improved toilets and safe sanitation systems using our Diamond model, a market-based approach to delivering safe sanitation.
The CCRDA is an Ethiopian non-profit umbrella organisation, regrouping over 400 international and national civil society organisations (CSOs) engaged in long term development, advocacy, humanitarian and human rights activities in the country. It hosted this competition aimed at Ethiopian CSOs to mark the 50th anniversary of its formation.
