According to the Ministry of Health of Tanzania, there is a lack of household sanitation infrastructure; in rural areas only 10% of the households have access to an improved non- shared toilet facility, whereas 73% of the households use unimproved toilet facilities. By strengthening the supply chain and improving access to finance, the focus of FINISH Mondial Tanzania is firstly to create a sustainable, local sanitation market in Serengeti District, with the ambition to scale to the Mara region and include faecal sludge management in urban areas.
